Standard mulch runs about $15 to $30 per cubic yard, while cedar mulch in particular costs about $30 to $40 per cubic yard.

This price can also rise if you want the wood dyed or the chips delivered and installed for you.  These costs could add up in situations where you need a large area covered in cedar mulch.

Repelling Insects

While repelling insects is also in the pro category, it also could bring up the issue that it also repels the beneficial bugs that may be needed to keep your garden happy and healthy. Some flowers need to be pollinated or benefit from the nutrients certain insects give.

Cedar mulch is a fragrant wood and could effect some individuals with allergies, while most enjoy the scent it is important to be aware of this if anyone visiting the home or location could have allergic reaction to the smells.

Is Cedar Better than Regular Mulch?

Cedar mulch is some of the highest quality of mulch, making it a little better than some of the other types of mulch on the market.

Repelling insects and appearance are two important qualities that set cedar apart from the other mulches. That being said, there will be a price increase for being the highest quality mulch.

Meaning in some situations there may be a better type of mulch to use in a specific project. As mentioned about standard mulch is about half the price of cedar mulch.
