  • Keep floors flat. Avoid using thick rugs under the table. Instead, place a large area rug under the sectional to absorb sound and define the lounge area.
  • Use flooring that works for your needs: Consider luxury vinyl, wood, tile or laminate if you plan on having game tables.
  • Ball & paddle station. Mount a narrow rail with baskets on the left side of the storage run and label bins so things can be easily found when needed.
  • Lighting that doesn’t glare. Use diffused overhead fixtures centered over the table and add bias lighting at the TV to reduce glare.

  • Keep sightlines clean. Center the main row toward the screen and align the speakers to ear height for the best viewing and listening experience.
  • Add a raised seating platform in back: If you want better viewing in back raise the seats 6 to 8″ with 42 to 48″ depth per row.
  • Light the room like a theater. Use dimmable cans on zones, LED step/aisle lights at the 24″ center walkway, and blackout shades on all windows to control the glare.
  • Sound management. Install acoustic panels and add a large rug between the screen and seats to tame sound echo. Add a  weather-strip under the door so noise doesn’t leak inside the rest of the home.
  • Snack bar durability. Choose wipeable counter materials, and add a mini-fridge under the counter.
  • Cable discipline. Run HDMI/Ethernet in-wall cables to the screen wall.
